Molten Caramel Apples

There is something special about warm baked apples in the fall, especially when they’re filled with gooey, melted caramel and wrapped in golden, flaky pastry. These Molten Caramel Apples are an easy dessert that looks impressive but requires just a handful of simple ingredients.

I cored fresh apples and filled them with soft caramel candies before wrapping them in Pillsbury crescent roll dough. A generous sprinkle of cinnamon sugar adds the perfect finishing touch, bringing together the comforting flavours of baked apples, buttery pastry, and warm cinnamon.

The best part is the molten caramel centre waiting inside each apple. As they bake, the pastry turns golden and flaky, the apples begin to soften, and the caramel melts into a deliciously gooey filling. With just 20 minutes in the oven, you can have a cozy homemade dessert without the work of making pastry from scratch.

Serve these apples warm, straight from the oven, or add a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra-special treat. The contrast of warm caramel, tender apple, and cool, creamy ice cream makes every bite irresistible.

Give my recipe a try and enjoy these warm, gooey Molten Caramel Apples!

INGREDIENTS:

  • Apples

  • Soft caramel candies

  • 1 can Pillsbury crescent roll dough

  • Granulated sugar

  • Ground cinnamon

STEPS:

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.

  2. Wash and dry the apples. Carefully remove the core from the top of each apple, creating an opening for the caramel while keeping the bottom intact.

  3. Fill the centre of each apple with soft caramel candies.

  4. Unroll the Pillsbury crescent roll dough and separate it into triangles. Wrap the dough around each apple, covering the sides and top as much as possible. Pinch the edges together to help seal the dough.

  5. Mix granulated sugar and ground cinnamon in a small bowl. Sprinkle the cinnamon sugar generously over the wrapped apples.

  6. Arrange the apples in a baking dish, leaving a little space between each one.

  7. Bake at 375°F for approximately 20 minutes, or until the crescent roll dough is golden brown and the apples have begun to soften.

  8. Allow the apples to cool slightly before serving. The caramel filling will be very hot straight out of the oven.

  9. Bon appétit! Enjoy!
