Sapporo Sushi used to be amongst the limited number of sushi restaurants in proximity of Kingston, when I first moved here. The quaint restaurant provides a modern, yet authentic, take on Japanese Cuisine, as well as delicious Korean dishes. The food is most definitely the best available sushi in the area. In my eyes, Mark is the pioneer sushi chef in this town. He trained many of the others who have since branched out and went on to open their own restaurants. Now, the market seems rather saturated, and the competition is fierce, however, Sapporo is a top competitor.
The Setting: The layout of the restaurant follows a wooden scheme with traditional Japanese décor, including plants, porcelain sculptures, and bamboo. The dishes (plates and bamboo slabs) give the customer the sense that they are receiving what they paid for.
The Food: Most ordered dishes are accompanied by a classic Miso soup and a house salad topped with a delicious homemade dressing. In accordance with Japanese tradition, the food is served as the dishes are completed. Sushi lovers cannot go wrong with any sushi roll or sashimi order. The fish is amazingly fresh and is of high-quality. Non-sushi costumers can enjoy an exquisite Chicken Teriyaki, amongst many other delicious recipes.
