Dumpling Lasagna in a Ramekin
If you love dumplings but don’t love the time it takes to fold them one by one, this Dumpling Lasagna in a Ramekin is such a fun twist! Layers of seasoned ground turkey, ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, wonton wrappers and savoury broth come together in individual ramekins for a cozy, flavour-packed meal.
Think of it as dumplings meets lasagna! Instead of carefully folding each dumpling, you layer the filling and wrappers right inside a ramekin, spooning broth between the layers before steaming everything until tender. It’s a clever way to enjoy those comforting dumpling flavours with a whole lot less fuss.
This recipe is perfect for when you’re craving homemade dumplings but want to try something a little different. Each ramekin gives you your own individual serving of these delicious, savoury layers.

INGREDIENTS:
500g of ground turkey
1 tablespoon of freshly grated ginger
2 tablespoons of soy sauce
1 teaspoon of sesame oil
2 tablespoons of finely chopped fresh chives
15 wonton wrappers, depending on the size of your ramekins (15 for my 3 ramekins)
1 cup of chicken broth, plus more as needed
spg to taste (salt, pepper, garlic powder)
STEPS:
Prepare the turkey filling. In a bowl, combine the ground turkey, grated ginger, soy sauce, sesame oil, spg and chopped chives. Mix thoroughly until everything is evenly distributed.
Prepare the wonton wrappers. Using a round cutter, knife or scissors, trim the square wonton wrappers into circles that fit inside your ramekins.
Start layering. Divide a little of the turkey mixture between the bottoms of your ramekins, spreading it into an even layer.
Add the wonton wrappers. Spread a thin layer of the remaining turkey mixture over a round wonton wrapper and place it into the ramekin, meat side up. Spoon a little chicken broth over the layer.
Continue layering. Repeat with the remaining wrappers, turkey mixture and broth until the ramekins are nearly full. Finish with a wonton wrapper on top and add a little more broth so the layers stay moist. Leave some room at the top to prevent the liquid from spilling over.
Prepare the steaming pot. Arrange the ramekins in a large, deep pot with a tight-fitting lid. Carefully pour water into the pot until it reaches about one-third of the way up the sides of the ramekins. Make sure the water stays outside the ramekins.
Steam until cooked. Cover the pot and bring the water to a boil. Reduce the heat as needed to maintain steady steam and cook for approximately 25 minutes. Check that the turkey has reached an internal temperature of 74°C (165°F) and that the wonton wrappers are soft and tender. If needed, continue steaming until fully cooked.
Bon appétit! Serve and enjoy. Carefully remove the hot ramekins from the pot and let them rest briefly before serving. Spoon the tender layers and savoury broth into bowls, or enjoy them directly from the ramekins with a spoon.
