I love trying viral food trends and I must say that this Flat Caramelized Croissant is one of the most delicious ones I’ve made! It is so easy to make, literally under 4 minutes of cooking!
You basically take a whole croissant and flatten it out, coat it and fry it for a few minutes on both sides. The croissant actually crisps up even more while cooling.
You can eat it how it is or dip it in some chocolate, or Nutella or enjoy it with some jam and berries- the possibilities are endless! Regardless of how you decide to eat it, you will have a yummy, delicious, sweet treat.
Some viral food trends are better than others, trust me when I say that this flat croissant falls into the amazingly delicious and mouthwatering category. It's extremely quick and easy to make.
Try my recipe, it’s such a great way to use up those stale leftover Costco croissants that I’d otherwise be throwing out on garbage night! You will love these Flat Croissants!
INGREDIENTS:
*to simplify things, here are the ingredients needed per each croissant
1 butter croissant
1.5 tablespoons of butter or margarine
2 tablespoons of brown sugar
A pinch of cinnamon (optional)
You will also need a non stick pan, rolling pin, and some parchment, as well as a pot
STEPS:
Roll and press down on your croissant with a rolling pin, flatten it as much as possible, but be careful not to tear it. * I started off with parchment paper covering my croissant, but removed it to get a better idea of how flat I needed to get it.
Rub your butter mixture on each side of your flattened croissant.
Place your prepared croissant in your hot pan (medium heat). Quickly flip it over after a few seconds and cover it with parchment paper and then the heavy pot and press down and wait for 1 & 1/2 minutes. Then remove the pot and the paper and gently flip it over.
Place the parchment paper and the pot on again and weigh down for 1 & 1/2 minutes. Place your croissant on a silicon baking mat or on the parchment paper to cool. Repeat these steps with the other croissants.
Bon appétit! Enjoy! (Flat croissants are best when eaten on the same day you make them.)
