Chocolate Pretzel Christmas Wreaths

Who says Halloween treats are only for October? On a recent snow day, I found myself staring at a bag of leftover bat-shaped pretzels and thought: why not give them a festive second life? So I decided to repurpose the leftover Halloween treats, and what started as a simple snack quickly turned into a full-on kitchen adventure. It’s easy, fun, and honestly, a little magical: arrange pretzels in a circle, drizzle with melted chocolate, and sprinkle on your favorite festive toppings — crushed candy canes, mini marshmallows, colorful sprinkles… whatever makes you smile. There’s something so satisfying about taking a treat that’s already fun and making it even more magical for the holiday season. It’s also the perfect way to turn a snowy, quiet afternoon into a hands-on activity for kids or anyone who loves to play in the kitchen.

What I love most about this recipe is how flexible it is. You don’t need fancy ingredients or perfect technique, just a few pantry staples, a little time, and a willingness to make a mess. Kids love helping (and sneaking tastes), and the results always bring smiles. You can even package them up for teachers, neighbors, or friends — they make the sweetest homemade gift.. These wreaths are perfect for gifting, holiday parties, or cozy snow day indulgence. Give my recipe a try, your kitchen (and taste buds) will thank you!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 bag of mini pretzels

  • 1 cup of candy melts/melting wafers (green & white)

  • Holiday sprinkles (or crushed candy canes, mini marshmallows, edible glitter, etc.)

STEPS:

  1. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt your chocolate in 30 second intervals, stirring between each until smooth and glossy.

  2. Dip each pretzel halfway into the melted chocolate, letting the extra drip off.

  3. On a parchment-lined tray, start laying the dipped pretzels in a circular shape to form a wreath. Once the first layer is done, add a second layer on top for extra texture and a fuller look.

  4. While the chocolate is still soft, sprinkle with your favourite toppings; holiday sprinkles, crushed candy canes, or anything festive you have on hand.

  5. Leave the wreaths at room temperature to set for about 15 minutes, or place them in the fridge for faster results.

  6. Once they’ve hardened, gently lift them off the parchment paper and enjoy your perfectly imperfect (and totally delicious) Christmas wreaths!

Make It Your Own:

Try using white chocolate and a drizzle of dark for a “snow-dusted” look, or mix pretzel shapes for extra texture. These also make beautiful homemade gifts — just wrap them in clear cellophane with a ribbon, and you’ve got a sweet, personal touch for teachers, neighbours, or friends.
