Healthy & Tasty Air Fryer Chicken

Chicken leg quarters are my favorite part of the chicken to cook! I love how you get the thighs and drumsticks, which to me are the juiciest and tastiest parts of the chicken. Chicken breasts are usually the part of the chicken that are in the spotlight, so much attention is given to the white meat. Then there’s the chicken wing, also super popular. Chicken quarters don’t get nearly the attention they should, they're definitely underrated!

Many people believe that air fryers are just a substitute for the oil frying method, but in reality they’re so much more than that. They are like little convection ovens which move hot air very rapidly around the food being cooked, which is absolutely perfect for chicken! You get a nice and crispy skin while the meat gets so unbelievably juicy and tender. You need to try my recipe, won’t believe how delicious the chicken tastes!

Who doesn't love being able to whip up a quick dinner? That's why I love this recipe so much. Cooking the chicken quarters this way is so easy. Spray a little non-stick cooking spray to the bottom of your air fryer basket/tray before  placing the chicken in. Be sure to start with the skin side down, then flip it halfway through so that the skin is up at the end, so that the skin is nice and crispy!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 2 chicken leg quarters, bone-in, skin-on

  • 1 teaspoon of paprika

  • 1 teaspoon of ground black pepper

  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt

  • 1/2 teaspoon of garlic powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

  • 1/3 teaspoon of ground mustard

  • *cooking spray (spray the bottom of the air fryer)

STEPS:

  1. Rinse the chicken with cold water.

  2. Season both sides of the chicken with the dry ingredients. *If you want to marinate it, you could add all the dry ingredients to a large ziptop bag and add the chicken to the bag, shake it well and leave it in your fridge for a few hours or even overnight.

  3. Preheat your air fryer to 380°F or 194°C.

  4. Place the chicken in your air fryer, skin side down first. Set your air fryer for 30 minutes. Be sure to flip the chicken halfway through the cooking time.

  5. When it’s done, remove the chicken using tongs, and let it rest for 5 minutes.

  6. Enjoy! Bon appétit!
