Bacon-Wrapped Cinnamon Sugar Baked Apples
Apple picking is one of my favourite fall traditions, but if you’re anything like me, you come home with far more apples than you know what to do with! Between snacking on them, packing them in lunches, and making all the usual apple recipes, I’m always looking for something a little different to try.
These Bacon-Wrapped Cinnamon Sugar Baked Apples are such a fun way to use up some of that apple-picking haul. Fresh apples are filled with a simple mixture of butter, brown sugar, and cinnamon, then wrapped in bacon and baked until the apples are tender and the filling is warm, buttery, and caramelized.
I love how just a few simple ingredients come together to create something that feels a little special. The sweetness of the apples and cinnamon sugar pairs beautifully with the savoury bacon, making these a fun addition to a fall brunch, a cozy weekend treat, or something different to serve when you have guests over.
So, the next time you find yourself bringing home bags of apples from the orchard, set a few aside for this easy recipe. You might just discover a new favourite way to enjoy apple season! Give my recipe a try and let me know what you think.
INGREDIENTS:
3 apples, halved
6 strips of bacon
3 tbsp butter, softened
3 tbsp brown sugar
1 tsp ground cinnamon
STEPS:
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with a silicon mat or aluminum foil for easier cleanup.
In a small bowl, mix the softened butter, brown sugar and cinnamon until well combined.
Cut each apple in half and carefully scoop out the core and a little of the centre to make room for the filling. Leave enough apple flesh around the edges to hold the filling.
Spoon the cinnamon sugar butter mixture into the centre of each apple half, dividing it evenly among the six halves.
Wrap each apple half with one strip of bacon, securing the ends underneath the apple so the bacon stays in place while baking.
Place the apples on the prepared baking sheet with the bacon ends facing down. Bake for 30 minutes, or until the apples are tender and the bacon is cooked through. Cooking time may vary depending on the size and firmness of your apples. If needed, broil briefly at the end to crisp the bacon, watching carefully.
Allow the apples to cool for a few minutes before serving, as the melted cinnamon sugar filling will be very hot.
Bon appétit! Enjoy!
