I call these Air Fryer Pizza Subs- my daughter calls them “hot dog bun pizzas”. Whatever you call them, one fact is true, they are simply delicious! My son’s reaction today: “omg so tasty but next time make more & add even more cheese”, this after he ate 3!
This is such an easy, kid-friendly recipe. I encourage you all to try it, you won’t be disappointed. You know how I feel about my air fryer, and these are made in the air fryer from start to finish and ready in no time! The prep doesn’t take much time or effort either. The hot dog buns come out perfectly crisp, the garlic butter adds an extra layer of flavour and the cheese is just deliciously ooey gooey!
INGREDIENTS:
2 hot dog buns
8 slices of pepperoni
1/2 cup of pizza sauce
1/2 cup of shredded mozzarella cheese
3 tablespoons of butter (melted)
3 cloves of garlic (crushed/minced)
1/2 teaspoon of Italian seasoning/oregano
***For this recipe, each amount of ingredients completely depends on your preference!
STEPS:
Preheat your air fryer to 325 degrees F (set the timer for 10 minutes)
Open each hot dog bun and add the pizza sauce to the bottom side.
Add your pepperoni & top with cheese.
Add your garlic butter to the opposite side- spread it all over the front & back of the top bun.
Close them up and put them in the air fryer (no need to turn them at the half point mark).
Air fry at 325ºF for 10 minutes
Take them out of the air fryer and try your best not to burn the roof of your mouth- you can avoid this by waiting a few minutes for them to cool, which happens to be the most challenging step!
Bon appétit! Enjoy!
