Air Fryer Cheesy Egg Bagels

I was so excited to try the viral egg in a hole bagel! I've seen so many different variations of this, but wanted to keep it simple. I went with whatever I had in my fridge! You can use any type of bagel you'd like, but I recommend an everything bagel. Feel free to add your own seasoning, sauces and spices. This is such an easy, tasty recipe that it will quickly become your go-to I'm sure!

These breakfast bagels definitely live up to the hype. After making my own version, I can see why they're trending. You can make these with any ingredients you have on hand and cook them in an air fryer or in an oven.

I like to keep my toppings simple: cheese, cheese and more cheese! But you can add veggies or cooked meats as well. The timing will depend on your oven or air fryer, so start with 8 minutes at 365ºF and keep an eye on the bagel as it cooks. You’ll know it’s ready when the egg has set and the whites are no longer gooey. I left mine in for 11 minutes because I don't like jiggly egg whites, but then your yolk will also solidify a bit. Ten minutes seems to work best. Give my recipe a try, you will love it!

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 everything bagel, sliced in half

  • 2 eggs

  • Salt & pepper

  • Mozzarella cheese blend (or any cheese of your choice)

STEPS:

  1. Cut your bagel in half.

  2. Place the bagel soft side down in the air fryer basket (I line mine with an air fryer parchment paper liner- such an easier cleanup).

  3. Crack one egg in the centre of the bagel hole, season with salt & pepper and top with cheese.

  4. Air fry (or bake) at 185ºC/365ºF until the egg has set. Keep an eye on it every few minutes. Mine took about 10 minutes.

  5. Bon appétit!
