This is honestly the easiest, and most delicious pizza dough recipe. I’ve included instructions for using all-purpose flour, which is often what most people have in their pantry, as opposed to other fancy flours! I make this pizza dough in just one bowl, easy cleanup! I don’t use a stand mixer, however, you are welcome to use one if you’d like.
I’m including a pizza dough recipe as well as an example using my favorite toppings (I’m trying to be mindful of my cholesterol levels these days!)
I just made this fantastic pizza an hour ago and took some to my parents- it was a huge hit! Try this recipe, pick your favourite toppings and make the perfect pizza at home!
INGREDIENTS for the dough:
1 packet of active dry yeast
1 teaspoon of white sugar
a dash of salt
1 cup of warm water (not hot/boiling)
2 and 1/2 cups of flour
2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil
Preheat the oven to 410 degrees F. In a medium bowl, add the warm water and dissolve the yeast and sugar. Let it stand, covered, for about 10 minutes.
Stir in the flour, salt and oil. Mix it all together until smooth. Cover the dough and let it rest for roughly 30 minutes.
Stretch the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and pat or roll into a round. I like to use my hands, but you can also use a rolling pin to work the dough into a 12" circle. You can make your pizza smaller or larger, depending on your crust thickness preference.
Place the stretched out dough onto a lightly greased pizza pan or greased foil covered baking sheet. Spread with your favorite toppings and bake in the preheated oven for 15 to 20 minutes. I like finishing it off with a quick 2 minute broil. I watch it closely, and remove the pizza when it turns golden.
Let the baked pizza cool for 5 minutes before serving.
*Toppings I used tonight: homemade pizza sauce, onions, mushrooms, garlic, oregano, fresh basil and goat cheese.
*Toppings for my kids pizzas: homemade pizza sauce, pepperoni & mozzarella cheese.
